Overview

OpenPostings is an open-source application for viewing job postings, tracking applications, and managing user-defined job search settings.

OpenPostings is local-first. The app runs on your device. OpenPostings maintainers do not run a central user account system for this app and do not operate a hosted user database for your profile/application records.

Data Stored On Your Device

The app stores data locally on your device when you use app features, including:

  • Information you choose to enter in the app (for example: profile fields, application notes, and settings).
  • Job posting data retrieved from public employer/ATS endpoints.
  • Operational sync metadata (for example: last sync time and sync status).

No Data Collection by OpenPostings Maintainers

OpenPostings maintainers do not receive your personal app data.

  • No required account signup with OpenPostings maintainers.
  • No OpenPostings-hosted user database for your jobs/profile/application records.
  • No OpenPostings-owned analytics/telemetry pipeline for personal app records.
  • No sale of personal data.

What the App Uses Local Data For

  • Showing and filtering job postings.
  • Saving your application-tracking records.
  • Running optional background sync features.
  • Import/export and migration of your local settings/data.

Storage and Retention

  • OpenPostings stores data locally on your device/computer by default.
  • You can delete app data by uninstalling or clearing app storage, and by deleting exported files you created.
  • OpenPostings does not require creation of a hosted OpenPostings account.

Data Leaves Your Device Only If You Choose

  • Your local profile/application data stays on your device by default.
  • Data leaves your device only when you explicitly export/share it or route it to infrastructure you control.

Permissions

Depending on platform/version, OpenPostings may request permissions such as:

  • Network access (to fetch job postings/sync content from external endpoints).
  • Notifications (for background sync status).
  • File access (for import/export workflows).

Third-Party Endpoints

When syncing/fetching postings, requests are made from your device/runtime to employer/ATS endpoints (or to endpoints you configure). Those third-party services operate under their own privacy policies and terms.

Children

OpenPostings is not directed to children under 13.
